Selection guide

What type of marble
does your project need?

Not all marbles are the same, nor are they suitable for everything. The right choice depends on the use, the space and the visual result you are looking for.

— 01

High-traffic floors

For areas with heavy footfall we recommend a honed or bush-hammered finish: Crema Marfil, Blanco Ibiza or Tundra Grey offer proven durability and resistance.

— 02

Bathrooms and wet areas

White and grey marbles with a polished finish are the most in demand. Negro Marquina, Blanco Goya or Carrara deliver the most striking visual result.

— 03

Countertops and kitchens

A thickness of 3 cm and a polished or brushed finish are recommended. Crema Marfil, Blanco Marmara and Pietra Grey lead the choices for their resistance and aesthetics.

— 04

Façades and exteriors

Exteriors require low water absorption and a non-slip finish. Consult our team for the most suitable variety and thickness for your project.

Technical information

What natural marble is and why to choose it

Marble is a metamorphic natural stone composed mainly of crystallised calcite. Its geological origin gives it unique characteristics: density, durability and an unrepeatable veining pattern. Every marble slab is, literally, unique in the world.

Unlike artificial materials that imitate its appearance, natural marble contains no resins or synthetic compounds. It is an inert material, safe for interiors and with a comparatively low environmental footprint.

The most in-demand types of marble in Spain

The most requested are Crema Marfil —quarried in Pinoso, Alicante, and a worldwide benchmark—, Negro Marquina for high-contrast projects, and greys such as Pietra Grey and Tundra Grey, leading names in contemporary interior design.

Italian Carrara remains the benchmark for high-end bathrooms and kitchens. At Pulycort we market it at source, guaranteeing authenticity and the best price conditions.

How the types of marble differ

The types of marble differ in their colour and veining, their hardness, their water absorption and their geological origin. These variables determine the most suitable applications for each variety and the maintenance they require over time.

At Pulycort we offer free technical advice to help you identify the most suitable type of marble, whether you are a private client, an architect, an interior designer or a developer.
